It has been a few weeks now, since Wurkbuk Beta 3 was released, and digital worksheet management is all the better for it. However, that doesn't mean that things have been quiet. There has still been a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Just like with the previous major release, Wurkbuk Beta 2, there was a blog post explaining what would be next. In that, I had a list of things that I wanted to accomplish before the next release, and I must say, I'm proud that most of that was achieved. But there is much more that still needs to be done...

From that previous blog post, the only thing I wasn't able to fit into the Beta 3 update was parental access. So, that will be the first (and most likely the only) functionality inclusion. But to be honest, I did not initially intend to have all of the ideas included for the Beta 3 update. There were going to be more Betas. But in the interest of speeding things up and getting a finished product to the masses quicker, I have decided that Beta 3 will most likely be the final Beta version and the next will be the first Release Candidate. This is scheduled to be launched sometime in Q1 of 2022.

Before then, the parental access feature, will not be the only thing that will change. The UI and UX has been under review and this will be the most important change. Huge thanks goes out to John Eriksonn, UX manager at Tomra for the great indepth review. Although, things will largely stay the same, there will be a number of UI inconsistencies fixed, relating to placement, colour and style.

There will also be improvements to the code. Although, it is quite solid as it is, there are always improvements that can be made to speed and efficiency.

Finally, there will be a big push to increase the size of the resource repository. There are currently about 20 lessons that are available for free, including the latest Coding with Minecraft series of lessons. I will be working on Making Apps with App Inventor series of lessons shortly, which will add a few more lessons, and will join that with a Year 7 and Year 8 curriculum for computer science, which will take a bit longer to complete. These lessons have already been tried and tested with students in the UK and the UAE, by myself and other teachers, so they will be good to go, when available.
